So wow! Costa Rica is a beautiful country! We spent 6 nights in the Guanacaste Region of Costa Rica at the Dreams Las Mareas all-inclusive Resort and it was truly marvelous. The hotel was truly beautiful, really nice room with an ocean view (okay, partial ocean view but still nice). We enjoyed all 6 onsite restaurants and I gave myself permission to eat anything I wanted all week long! We did 2 full day excursions thru Amstar. The first one we did called, “Rainforest, Sloth and water fall experience”. It took us to the Llanos de Cortez waterfall which was truly breathtaking! Brett and I were able to take a refreshing swim there and it was just freaking delightful! Afterwards we continued on to a beautiful rainforest tour and saw some amazing wildlife. In case you didn’t know, Costa Rica is famous for having 5% of the planets biodiversity as well as being one of the “healthy blue zones”. I took loads of pics but won’t over bore you with my vacation shots. LOL!
The second tour, “Arenal Volcano, Rainforest and Hot Springs” took us on a 3 hour long bus ride to Lake Arenal at the foot of the still active volcano. We did a boat tour of the lake, saw more amazing birds and some fantastic views of the volcano! Afterwards we took a tour of yet another remarkable rainforest with loads of cool hanging bridges! Those are quite a trip to walk across with a dozen people and I liked challenging myself to see how many I could cross without having to grab the cables on the side! We finished out the day in an amazing place with a series of cascading hot springs and dinner at a nice restaurant. What a fabulous way to relax after all that walking and before the long 3 hour drive back to the hotel.
So the excursion days were interspersed in the week with several nice relaxing days as well. Brett and I have gotten into a pretty good groove of balancing my desire for adventure with his desire to actually be able to rest and enjoy a vacation by doing active excursions every other day which works good for me. Left to my own devices I would generally try to pack in SO MUCH STUFF that I would come home completely exhausted and in need of a vacation from our vacation. This time around we took it pretty easy on ourselves with the whole ecotourism route. I guess after surviving 2 years of Covid, I didn’t feel as much need to risk my life zip-lining, parasailing or sky-diving. <grin> But yeah, the ecotourism stuff was amazing and definitely “my jam” this time around.
I still managed to hit the gym almost everyday and keep my Fitbit happy. On our final day before traveling home, Brett rented me one of the cabana beds by the pool which was so lovely. There might just be something to that whole relax by the pool and read a book with a rum punch (or 3!). I had a marvelous week. The return home went fairly smooth and I am pretty much all settled back in as of today.
I have a couple of lovely folks visiting me for session play tomorrow and I look forward to getting back into some kinky fun! I also look forward to celebrating my birthday on Wednesday with Brett and “the family”. Hope to see more of you for some fun soon! ~ Love Mz Suzanne
