So I have never really been keen on social media stuff, and in many ways I am a bit of a “Boomer” about it. I mean I have had a ‘nilla Facebook account for years and mostly I pop on once a week or so to see if I missed any friend’s birthdays and such – lol. I find that so many of these apps can be incredible “time sucks” and I generally feel like I have enough “rabbit holes” vying for my time already – (except for cat videos – those are awesome!!)

BUT a very dear friend of mine does social media management professionally and she has convinced me that it would be good for me to come out of the dark ages by starting to create a social media presence and building a following. This isn’t just about increasing business, (which of course would be nice too), but also to possibly create some content that would help people new to the scene with skills and trustworthy information. It’s nice to give back to the lifestyle that has given me so much joy.

The learning curve of course is a bit steep for me – ughh! Let’s take creating videos for example. I have ALWAYS been uncomfortable in front of a camera. I over think it, get nervous, then hyper self critical, pick every little thing apart, start over a dozen times and then scrap the project completely. But I am hoping to start working through that in the new few months. (Wish me luck)

In the mean time, I created an Instagram account and started making a few graphics for it that I am actually a little proud of for a newbie. Check these out:

Come on! I covered the naughty bits and thought the text was sooo apropos! My friend said – “THE BEST phrase ever!” <grin> But ok – I guess I crossed the line with that one. Dang it!! Ooops. <blush>

So I am out going to be trying to come up with content ideas that won’t get me banned on the various platforms and I would absolutely welcome your suggestions and feedback as I try to learn how to do this stuff and navigate / obey the rules.
