Breath Coaching Certification CHECK!

I recently took a 12 day Breath Coach Training course through YOGABODY.com and I found so many aspects of it extremely interesting. First of all, Lucas is a wonderful instructor – he’s very knowledgeable, great at presenting the information in an easy to understand way and yet he feels very approachable. I have taken several Masterclasses by him as well and I truly like his teaching style immensely.

Many of you know that I have been doing breathwork for many years but I was fascinated to learn the physiology behind it and all ways that breathing can affect your mood, your energy and even your blood chemistry! He broke it down into 3 categories of breath – Water or Balancing breath, Coffee or Energizing breath, and Whiskey – Relaxing breath. (I prefer wine myself but I completely “get” the gist. LOL! Of course each of these categories had several different breath practices, some more complex than others but all very learnable.

In short – I REALLY loved the course and absolutely feel that I got a lot out of it. And then came time to do the final exam which consisted of a 43 question multiple choice test and creating 3 videos of me teaching one of each of the three breath categories. Now I have been known to suffer from test anxiety and the multiple choice portion was not too bad – I scored an 90.7 (I was of course nervous and misread 2 of the questions – oy!)

However, the video part was really hard for me. I am not and have NOT EVER felt comfortable making videos! I like truly freaking HATE it. We were told we needed to introduce ourselves, the type of breath we were demoing, why it is useful and then lead someone through the practice. We were also told to make it as professional as possible”. (But no pressure ughh!) Sounds easy right? Not so much! I wrote and rewrote the script multiple times, tried memorizing it which I am awful at but you were not allowed to read it off the paper, of course. I would start the video, get nervous, forget my next line, start over, get a little ways in – stutter or miss an important bit, Start over again, and again AND AGAIN! I seriously I deleted over 100 takes from my poor ancient phone. At one point on the last video – I was going along really well – halfway through the 10 rounds, and my phone crashed because it was out of memory! Arrrghhhh!! NOOOOO! Thankfully my wonderful husband said I could just start from where I left off and he would splice it in for me. Thank freaking heaven! Because I was sooooo done at that point. 🙁

I spent nearly 5.5 hours sitting cross legged on a pillow trying to get the last 2 videos done because I had spent a couple hours doing the first one a couple weeks before. I sat in that position so long in fact, that I actually over stretched my right hip flexor and was limping around for nearly 3 days afterwards. But, I did it!! And then I submitted them and the little message popped up and said I should give them up to 2 weeks to evaluate and tell me if I passed. (Yipes!!)

Well today I got the email telling me that I did indeed pass and that I could down load my official certificate! Hooo freaking RAY!! And I definitely wanted to share this fabulous news with all of you! Thank you to those of you that have supported and encouraged me along the way.
